[Once again, Aventurine--Kakavasha, but in public he goes by Aventurine to keep his allure--has been dolled up and brought out to be shown off and fawned over at one of his aunt's galas. He and his sister are lucky, their aunt was able to locate them and get them out of a bad situation with the death of their parents, but...well. Parisa knows damn well that her brother is just being used as a status grab, what with his general beauty and intelligence and general good luck. But they can't do anything about it. They haven't got the money to get away from their aunt.

So Aventurine is dolled up and brought out to the gala, sitting more or less by himself in the garden. Like a statue.]

Why don't we just take a walk?

[He pulls back, smiling a little.]

That sounds wonderful.

[He lets go, then stands and offers his hand to Aventurine.]

[And he takes it with a smile.

Eventually, the big day finally comes. Aventurine--Kakavasha, now that he can use his real name--is married to Veritas Ratio. There's no kiss, claiming they're both too shy for that, but the ceremony is perfect.

The reception, so far, has been as well. Kakavasha is exhausted, but he's smiling and enjoying watching the guests (even if he doesn't know most of them).]

[Veritas has been difficult to pry from Kakavasha's side, but he did excuse himself briefly to get drinks for both of them.]

Mhm. Tired, though.

[He takes the drink with a smile, leaning against Veritas.]

[As he puts an arm around Kakavasha.]

... I was worried some sort of disaster would strike, but it seems we managed to get through the wedding without any major problems.

I'm pretty sure we only managed that because my aunt got food poisoning, honestly.

Probably. And thank goodness for that.

Honestly.

[He leans against Veritas.]

How are you holding up?

[ignoranceisblight]

I'll admit, I'm not sure how much longer I can stand to be around this many people.

[Kakavasha being right there with him is helping, though.]

We can probably leave soon, if you need to.

[ignoranceisblight]

I don't think I need to just yet, at least.

[He lets his head rest against Kakavasha's, though.]

[Kakavasha smiles, squeezing Veritas's hand.]

Just say the word and we can leave. Sis will probably wrap up once we do.

[Veritas smiles gratefully, nodding. He returns the squeeze, and after a moment, he speaks up again:]

... How does it feel to be free finally?

[takesitall]

Goddess. Ask me in a day or two, when I'm probably in the bathroom crying over it.

[ignoranceisblight]

Fair enough. I imagine it probably still doesn't quite feel real.

[takesitall]

It doesn't. Neither does being married to my best friend.

[Kakavasha smiles at Veritas.]

[He chuckles.]

It doesn't feel quite real to me either.

[takesitall]

[Kakavasha smiles softly.]

I almost hope it never does. I like this feeling.

[ignoranceisblight]

[... O-oh, that smile...]

I like it, too.

[He pauses.]

... I think I'm ready to leave. What about you?

[takesitall]

Grab a bottle of wine and have some snacks sent to our room and yes. Please.

[ignoranceisblight]

That sounds like an excellent plan to me.

[He'll go ahead and grab a bottle of wine, in that case.]

[takesitall]

[And Kakavasha makes arrangements for food to be brought to the honeymoon suite. He and Veritas have no issues sharing a bed, at least.

Soon enough, they're out of the reception and on their way.]

Quiet at last.

Thank goodness. I could have withstood more, but that doesn't mean I wanted to.

[His hand finds Kakavasha's again and he squeezes just a little. When they get to the suite, he opens the door for Kakavasha.]

Agreed.

[He returns the squeeze.

Once they get to their room and Veritas gets the door, Kakavasha just goes to flop on the bed.]

I'll change in a minute. I need to get off my feet.
