[Aventurine enters Ratio's apartment with a cheerful little whistle, looking around for the doctor. They had plans for dinner tonight, just to relax after the week, and the door was unlocked but there is not Ratio.]

Oh, Chertan! Did you escape from the doctor again?

[He bends down to offer a hand to sniff.]

[Another meow, before he sniffs at Aventurine's hand, then pushes his head into that hand.]

[Aven picks Chertan up to cuddle.]

Alright, alright. Silly kitty...

[He purrs as he's picked up, making himself comfortable in Aventurine's arms. This is perfect.]

What is Ratio feeding you, to get your fur so soft? Or do you play in his conditioner?

[Pffff-- He just rubs his head against Aventurine's shoulder. Aventurine, please.]

[He is talking to this cat like it's a person.]

Do you need to go home, or do you want to come home with me until Ratio calls asking about you?

[A noncommittal mew. He'll find his way home at some point!]

Then home it is for you, sir. Honestly, you'd think Ratio would keep you inside with that key of yours!

[That Aventurine does not even touch accidentally.]

[Another meow!

But he is quite comfortable where he is, and the neighborhood's still a considerable walk away, so.]

How did you even get this far away? Are you that much of a little adventurer, when you're not hiding?

[He meows again. A little of that and a little "he was chased out this far".]

Ah, yes, the people harassing you for the key. All the more reason to keep you in the house. Or at least hiding under a bush~

[A mew. He'd find his way out anyway, thank you!! And where's the fun in hiding!!]

You'd be safer! And less bothered by people!

[It's so much fun to mess with the overconfident ones, though... and he has ways of getting out of trouble, besides.

He just rubs his head against Aventurine's shoulder again.]

You are way too much like your human, Chertan. You probably have fun letting them chase you because they're all idiots, huh?

[An all too cheerful mew in response. And purring.

He absolutely does have fun, yes.]

Does Ratio not have a cat tower for you? Is that why this is your hobby, Chertan?

[Having a cat tower would not stop him from this.

(Never mind that Ratio isn't getting a cat tower for his own damn self in cat form, but that's not the point.)]

[Aventurine talks to "Chertan" the entire trip back to Ratio's neighborhood. He even stops to get a snack and gets a little bit of cat-friendly cream for Chertan if he is so inclined.]

Should I use the key I have and put you back inside, or will you just escape?

[He is very much inclined, thank you.

At the question, he just gives Aventurine the most innocent look he can muster.]

Uh-huh. Thought so.

[He sighs, amused, as they reach Ratio's place. Aventurine very carefully sets "Chertan" down on the mat.]

At least try not to get so far away from home next time, okay? For the dear doctor's sake if nothing else.

[Meow! He rubs up against Aventurine's legs briefly.

... Maybe he should invite Aventurine over for dinner tonight.]

[If he does, Aventurine will be happy to accept.
