[Aventurine watches as the movers bring his new statue into his garden. He recently bought a new house with a garden and it seemed a shame to keep it empty like it was. He'll figure out if he wants a statue or not later, but this one was decently priced for the quality and he is never going to say no to art of a pretty man where he can see it.

As the statue is placed down, Aventurine notices an odd device stuck on the back.]

Take that off, what the hell.

I'm excited.

[He puts most of the colors he picked out for his eyes away, leaving the two Aventurine picked. He pulls out a different paint.]

Here's the color I selected for my "hair".

Oooh. I love it. Like the nightsky?

[A nod!]

I selected it because it reminded me of all the stargazing we do.

[takesitall]

I love it. You're going to be even more gorgeous with these colors, Veritas.

[ignoranceisblight]

I certainly hope so...

[And soon enough, they're heading outside to paint Veritas. When they're done (and the paint has dried), Veritas looks down at himself, then looks up at Aventurine.]

... Well, how do I look?

[takesitall]

[Aventurine can't help the small, pleased smile.]

Absolutely perfect. More perfect. We did good, Veritas.

I'll have to look in a mirror soon, then. I'm excited to properly see the results of our handiwork. And... I'm eager to see what you've done with my eyes.

Would a photo work?

... Ah! Yes, that would definitely work.

[takesitall]

[Aventurine smiles and digs out his phone. Once the photo is taken, he hands the phone to Veritas.

He did his best to make sure Veritas looked absolutely gorgeous.]

[ignoranceisblight]

[If Veritas was capable of breathing, he'd be left breathless at the sight.]

... You've made me look beautiful.

[It's quiet, awed.]

[takesitall]

I just brought it out. You've always been beautiful, Veritas.

[ignoranceisblight]

Still... you did incredible work.

[He hands back the phone.]

[takesitall]

I tried. Glad you approve, though.

[ignoranceisblight]

More than just approve. I love it.

[takesitall]

[A pleased smile.]

And if you ever want to try different colors, we can always strip it and paint again.

[As he reaches for Aventurine's hand. He really enjoys holding Aventurine's hand, even if he can't completely feel it.

(Though, he thinks he feels it a little better than he used to... he's not sure if he's just imagining it.)]

[Aventurine hasn't noticed anything new, he just likes holding Veritas's hand.]

Now, let's clean this up and head to the park. I think there's a meteorshower tonight.

[A meteor shower... exciting. Veritas nods and hurries to start cleaning up.

(He makes a wish that night and nothing seems to come of it. Which... fair enough, really, he wasn't expecting anything to come of that, anyway.)

A couple more months pass. One day, Veritas... wakes up on the bed he eventually got in his room--not really to sleep on or anything, but it felt right to have--which is especially unusual, considering he didn't remember laying down on it, and it's even more unusual considering the fact that he doesn't sleep. He shakes his head, wondering what happened, then moves to stand up--

And freezes. He can feel the fabric under his hands much better than he could yesterday. For that matter, the "clothes" he'd been carved with are acting more like actual cloth instead of, y'know, being carved of stone. He brings a hand up to his head.

He's not sure what he expected, but what he felt isn't it.

He stands up--stumbling a bit because he somehow feels lighter--and hurries, still stumbling, to the bathroom to get a look in the mirror.]

[takesitall]

[Aventurine, only just now waking up because for some reason he crashed hard last night, hears the chaos as Veritas dashes out of his room. Concerned, he follows with a yawn]

Veritas--holy shit.

[ignoranceisblight]

[As Veritas stands at the sink and looks in the mirror, the realizations that he's feeling things when he touches them, blinking, breathing-- all of these hit him at once, and he just kind of laughs disbelievingly.

He turns towards Aventurine, a smile spreading across his face. He reaches for both of Aventurine's hands, eager to properly feel them in his own.]

[takesitall]

[Aventurine takes Veritas's hands, squeezing.]

You're human...?

[ignoranceisblight]

[It takes him a bit to speak, just because he's just so awed.]

I'm human.

[takesitall]

[Aventurine pulls him into a tight hug.]

You're human!
