[The guy leaves, but not without flipping them both off. Aventurine just sighs.]

[A few moments of silence pass, then Wing shrugs.]

If Joseph doesn't give him a black eye, Caesar or Bucciarati will.

...are you sure?

[quicksilverwings]

Positive. Nobody within Sognare's going to care if you used to be with the IPC. [A pause.]

And those three, in particular, tend to be a little protective of us.

[Wing says as if he wasn't just then...]

Just those three, huh?

[Yeah he's calling you out a bit, Wing.]

[quicksilverwings]

[He blinks a bit, then flushes and coughs into one hand, suddenly a bit self-conscious.]

... I didn't like how that bastard was talking to you.

[takesitall]

I saw that.

[A small, soft smile.]

Thank you.

[quicksilverwings]

[And that earns a small smile of his own in return.]

Of course, Aventurine.

[He reaches over to briefly take Aventurine's hand, squeezing gently before letting go.]

Now, shall we get the things for those cats? I did also see a pretty cool-looking cat tree before we got distracted...

[Wing's so sweet...]

Yes, let's finish up. I think I saw some toy mice somewhere...

[It's... fun. Going shopping with Aventurine like this is fun. They get the food, the beds, some toys and treats, and that cat tree, and take everything back to the guildhall.

As they make their way back, though, Wing suddenly grins and gently nudges Aventurine, gesturing as they pass the jackass who hassled them earlier, who is in fact sporting a black eye.

Wing leans over to whisper--]

Any bets who got to him first?

[takesitall]

[Heh. He smirks.]

Lynette, while he was bitching. Look, his shirt's all cut up.

[From her sword, no doubt.]

[quicksilverwings]

[Wing snickers.]

Even better than what I'd originally thought, I think. Serves him right.

[takesitall]

They're former Guild Fatui, aren't they? Figures he'd be an asshole about them, too.

[quicksilverwings]

Oh yeah. Not to mention, we've even got folks who were part of Guild Passione at one point, too.

Well, it's probably for the best he wasn't a jackass towards one of them. I'd have liked to see the result of that for myself.

Let me guess, Bucciarati's little crew?

Oh yes.

And Fugo and Narancia have rather nasty tempers when provoked.

Didn't Narancia pull a knife on someone for calling him short?

Mhm. And people still haven't learned!

[takesitall]

[He just shakes his head.]

Poor fools. But--Fugo?

His temper is much worse than Narancia's, trust me. He's just better about behaving in public as a rule.

[takesitall]

I mean, so is a feral dog some days.

[quicksilverwings]

Well, yes, but Fugo at least attempts to rein his temper in.

[It just does not always work.]

He's a little scared of his own anger, admittedly.

[takesitall]

Huh.

[Poor kid.]

So, want to help me get a space set up for the cats?

Yes, absolutely!

[takesitall]

[The cats love it.

A few weeks pass. Aventurine and Wing end up doing a lot of smaller jobs for the guild, occasionally getting assigned to help other members but always working together. They just mesh really, really well and it's helpful to have a Dark Hunter and War Magi that can float and go with whoever needs them most at the time. It's good.

Eventually, though, things go not so good. It's no one's fault, not really, but they got swarmed by some monsters with a lot of poison and sharp claws. Aventurine is fine, as he usually is, but Wing got the worst of it. They managed to escape and use a thread, but Wing is going to need a lot of time to recover.

Aventurine can't stop pacing as their healers look the other man over.]
