Mostly because he is covered in cats and sleeping like log.]

[He pauses, then laughs to himself. He closes the door behind him as he comes in, then goes over to Aventurine, gently shaking his boyfriend's shoulder.]

[He smiles, sleepy, and shifts the cats so he can reach up for a kiss.]

[He giggles a little, then holds up the bag.]

The food I said I was bringing, as promised.

[Which he promptly hands over-- The food in the containers within? Avgin-style food. Which promptly explains why he prepared it elsewhere, if it was supposed to be a surprise--Aventurine would've clocked it immediately had he done so at home.]

[As he looks around and sees all of the things he loved as a kid, Avgin-style curries and spicy honey chicken and roasted vegetables.]

I've been learning for a while now, and yes, this is why I left. I really wanted to surprise you with this and you would've figured it out immediately if I hadn't.

[Everything is all laid out when he returns, serving spoons and all. Avgin food is best enjoyed family-style, everyone getting their own as they want or letting others serve them, if you ask him.]
