✧ unexpected complication

[This was supposed to be an easy con. Well, easy-ish.

Taking down the entire IPC is a bit of a far-off pipe dream for Wing and his team (he's still marveling that he's ended up with a team, some days), but particular nasty individuals within or working with them is fair game. Just, you know, make sure picking them off is few and far between.

This was supposed to be a relatively routine takedown of a shithead of a mark. But there's been a wrench thrown into the works--one that the mark refuses to refer to by a name, and it leaves Wing seeing red. A slave.

This fucker has a slave.

Wing maintains his perfectly polite facade, the one meant to lure the target in, so that Wing can lure him into acting against his own best interests, too blinded by what he has to offer. Wing's all smiles, but for anyone really paying attention, he's seething.

Once the mark has left the room--he'll be out for a while, if a couple of Wing's teammates have anything to say about it--Wing makes his way over to get a better look at that slave.]

Do you want the same kind of crust as last time or do you want to try the thin crust this time?

You pick. It's all still pretty new to me--oh, hi Ace-y.

[And all talk of dinner is sidelined as Kakavasha reaches down to pick up one of the cats that comes and goes out of the apartment.]

No Jack or Queenie?

[Thin crust it is, just so Kakavasha can try something new. He chuckles a little when Kakavasha picks up the cat.]

Last I saw Jack, he managed to find his way upstairs.

[takesitall]

I bet he was hiding from this little wildcard.

[All the affection for the cat. He even leans in to rub noses.]

Tiny terror.

[quicksilverwings]

Mm, probably.

[He watches Kakavasha for a while, a fond smile on his face. Absolutely adorable.

He turns back to his laptop to actually properly send the order in, before getting up to get a couple of the fancier sodas he keeps in the fridge for the both of them. He brings those back in, setting the bottles on the coffee table.]

[He just keeps petting and eventually moves on to playing with Ace, pulling out a bit of string from somewhere to distract the cat.]

Oh, is that the fancy ginger drink?

[quicksilverwings]

It is. I figured tonight called for something extra-special, seeing as you have something worth celebrating.

[takesitall]

Aw, you spoil me. Sooner or later I'm going to need to get a job to repay you~

[He jokes, but it's also not entirely a joke.]

And what if I like spoiling you, huh~?

[takesitall]

I'd have to ask why, when all I do is mooch off you and pet your cats.

[quicksilverwings]

You're fun to talk to and be around. And I like seeing you get to try new things. And it's just... nice to have you here. I guess I was lonelier on my own than I thought I was.

[takesitall]

...I'm fun to be around?

[Just fun? Not useful or lucky?]

Really?

[He smiles.]

Yeah, really.

[takesitall]

That's a first. And we've never played any games together!

[quicksilverwings]

Like I said, I like just being around you. ... I wouldn't mind playing games with you sometime, though.

[takesitall]

Just maybe not any games of chance, unless you want to lose. Or it's a grift.

[quicksilverwings]

I'd like to think of myself as a graceful loser, but I'll keep that in mind.

[It's then that the pizza arrives, and he gets up to go get it.]

Kakavasha, can you grab a couple of the paper plates and some napkins?

[takesitall]

Of course~

[And he does just that. He is then promptly distracted by the cats after getting the plates and napkins, but that happens a lot.]

[It's cute. Wing watches for a moment or two, smiling fondly, before helping himself to a slice of pizza.

... He promptly takes a moment to dump a couple packets of red pepper flakes on it.]

Save some for me, just in case!

[Kitty time later. Kakavasha is hungry and there is pizza. He'll take two slices before flopping back down on the couch.]

Sometimes the food here is just not flavorful enough.

[quicksilverwings]

I asked for double of what they usually send this time. And we've still got that hot sauce in the fridge, too.

[He chuckles and slides a few of the remaining packets over to Kakavasha.]

You're right, though. 's why I like the food from other places more, usually.

[takesitall]

We need to go back to that Xianzhou place, they tasted pretty good. Or that one place with the curry.

[quicksilverwings]

Definitely both. Especially the Xianzhou place. [A beat.] I should find other stuff to cook for you, too.

[takesitall]

Well, I certainly won't complain. You're easily the best cook I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
