[Aventurine used to be a favorite of the International Private Trade Company (IPC for short). He was young, clever, and very charming and therefore made them so much money in trade agreements.

So when he set fire to their head office and ran off with his sister and the rest of the thought lost Avgin armada, it was a little surprising. That's on them, though, as he never hid his hatred for some of the higher ups in the Company.

Now Kakavasha--or Captain Vasha--heads the Armada with it's flagship the Stoneheart, a notorious pirate who sails the seas and actively hunts the IPC ships. It's a dangerous life, but he loves it.]

[It's a dangerous life, but it's a thrilling one.

Though, Arvel looks a little grim as he returns to the Stoneheart, independent of the pirates he'd led onto the ship they just captured.]

It's probably for the best we captured this one, Captain.

[And the quartermaster's tone makes it clear that Vasha really won't like why.]

Oh? Don't tell me they're more slavers...

[Vasha has a no mercy policy on slavers. The tattoo on his neck makes that very, very clear.]

More slavers, yes. Samir and Kim are working on freeing the captives.

[He grimaces.]

It's not just humans this time, either.

[takesitall]

...what do you mean, not just humans?

[interstellarline]

[It's Samir who speaks up, having led a few of the captives on board to let one of their medics take a look at them.]

They've got a siren, Captain.

[takesitall]

They have a what. Round up the entire crew and have them waiting on the deck. Captain included.

[He gestures for one of his men to take him to this siren.]

With pleasure, sir.

[Because Samir knows exactly what's going to happen to the crew after this.

Arvel takes it upon himself to lead Vasha to the siren. The siren in question is kept separate (... near the captain's quarters, worryingly enough), his wings, arms, and legs bound, and he's blindfolded and gagged. He must have been a recent capture.]

[takesitall]

[Vasha starts unbinding the siren, not caring one iota that he might be dangerous.]

I am going to kill all of them...hey. Hey, do you understand me?

[ignoranceisblight]

[The siren makes a noise, as if he was trying to say something before remembering that he's been gagged. There's a frustrated noise before he nods.]

[takesitall]

[Out comes the gag.]

You're safe now, I promise. I'm a pirate, but I'm not a slaver.

[ignoranceisblight]

Thank you.

[Once his arms are free, he reaches up to remove the blindfold himself. He keeps his eyes closed for a few moments before slowly opening his eyes.

... He needs a moment when he sees Vasha. Oh, the pirate is very pretty.]

[takesitall]

[The siren is attractive, but Vasha is not thinking about that right now. The poor man needs a break!]

[A beat.]

Unpronounceable unless you're a bird. You can call me Veritas.

[takesitall]

Veritas...nice to meet you. Captain Vasha of the Stoneheart, admiral of the Avgin Armada.

[ignoranceisblight]

Likewise. If only the circumstances were better. At least it's clear I'm in good hands.

[takesitall]

Better hands than the bastards who had you. Did they hurt you?

[ignoranceisblight]

They weren't particularly careful about the binding. But... other than that, not really. Not yet.

[A pause.]

There was talk of clipping my wings, though.

[takesitall]

...so would you like to watch me sentence those bastards, or would you rather rest?

[ignoranceisblight]

[... He should probably rest. He knows he probably isn't going to enjoy watching the sentencing, but...]

After all that, I think I'd like to watch. Especially the sentencing of their captain.

[After everything, he really wants to see this crew get theirs.]

[takesitall]

Then let's go.

[And some time later, his crew is cleaning the slaver's ship before getting ready to sail it to one of their harbors for a proper lookover. Vasha is showing Veritas a cabin.]

Since I don't think you want to sleep down with the crew, after all.

[It'd probably be more convenient if Veritas shifted to a form without wings, but he's... reluctant, to say the least.]

... I appreciate it, thank you.

[takesitall]

Of course. It is near my cabin, but that's just because that's the only one that's free. There's a lock, and I can get you the key if you want.

[ignoranceisblight]

If you're concerned I might be doing any comparison: you obviously haven't mused aloud about keeping me for yourself and I remain unbound. I have no reason to be suspicious of why the cabin's near yours.

[Boy, that sure has implications about earlier, though.]

I will, however, take that key, though.

[takesitall]

Suddenly wish I'd been worse to the captain.

[But he ducks into his cabin and hands over the key.]

Here you are. If anyone tries to be weird at you, just stab them.
